Roommate always late with rent in PJ, help!

One of my housemates, let's call him Bryan, is consistently late with his portion of the rent. Sometimes it's a few days, sometimes it stretches to a week or more. It's affecting me because I have to cover his share first to make sure the landlord gets the full amount on time. It's getting pretty stressful, especially with my own bills to manage.
I've tried talking to him nicely a few times, reminding him about the due date and how it impacts me, but nothing seems to stick for long. He's a good guy otherwise, and I don't want to create unnecessary tension or ruin the living situation.
What's the best way to handle this situation? Should I set a firmer boundary, or are there any specific approaches that have worked for others in similar shared rental setups? What are my options if it continues, considering I'm the one on the main tenancy agreement?
